What if “New Year, New Me” wasn’t about fixing yourself, but about learning how to live with intentionality?

Beginning January 4th, we will embark on our next Forum series: New Year, New Me. Over the course of five weeks, we will explore the Christian practice of creating a Rule of Life. A rule of life is a simple framework for writing out and committing to how we want to pattern our daily lives with more intentionality. Drawing from the wisdom of Christian monasticism and the very first rule of life written by St. Benedict in 530, these written “rules” are not about rigid dos-and-don’ts or spiritual perfection. Their purpose is to help Christians set rhythms for ourselves that foster prayer, charity, hospitality, and peace.

Each week, we’ll explore different aspects of what makes up a rule of life, and participants will be able to gradually develop for themselves their own personal rules of life. All the materials for the series will be made available to download or take home. If you can’t attend Forum, you are encouraged to still journey with us by working through the materials on your own and crafting your own rule of life too.

This series offers a fresh way to think about New Year’s resolutions. It also sets the stage for our Lenten journey this year, when the whole congregation will be invited to reflect on and practice Messiah’s shared commitments together.
