Matthew 2:1-12
Go a Different Road

The story of the Magi reminds us just how unlikely their journey to Jesus really was. They were outsiders, guided by imperfect signs, delayed by detours, and tangled up with dangerous powers—yet God still met them. Epiphany is the revelation that God breaks into our lives despite the odds.

But the story doesn’t end there. After encountering Christ, the Magi are warned not to return the way they came. Their journey becomes not only a story of grace, but of the freedom to choose a different road forward.

Many people arrive at faith through winding, imperfect, or even painful paths. The story of Epiphany invites gratitude for the grace that brought us here, while also offering hope: encountering Christ does not require us to repeat what harmed us. God invites us to build a different way for those who come after us. A way that is shaped by mercy, honesty, and grace.
