Isaiah’s “Song of the Vineyard” begins like a love poem but turns quickly to heartbreak, exposing fruit that looks good on the outside but is sour within. We often hide behind masks — in our culture, our church, and our own lives — presenting a surface of sweetness while concealing what’s really inside. Yet God loves us too much to leave the mask in place. Through the piercing poetry of Scripture, the refining fire of the Spirit, and most of all the cross, God confronts us with truth and strips away what is false so that we can bear real fruit of justice, love, and mercy.
