The parable of the Good Samaritan is one of the most famous parables of Jesus. The parable is told in response to this simple question: “Who is my neighbor?” In this sermon, Sherree Wood explores another important question: “Who are we in this story, and how does that change its message?” What are the implications for us as disciples of Jesus if we take seriously the example of the Samaritan who stops to help? What are the implications for us as disciples of Jesus if we are the one helped by someone who others are afraid of, or suspicious of? If we are to "Go and do likewise," we must first get clear about whose example we are imitating in this story and how that changes the good news and the challenge we hear in this story.
