Long before the Bible was canonized and bound as we know it today, early Christians were already teaching, praying, and gathering for worship. One of the earliest documents outside of the New Testament is the Didache (pronounced DID-uh-kay and meaning "teaching"). This document is a short but powerful handbook for Christian life, ministry, and worship, likely written before the close of the 1st century.

Join us for an 8-week Adult Forum series exploring this ancient text. Each week, we'll read a portion of the Didache and reflect on its wisdom for today. You do not need to read or prepare ahead. The text is short enough that we will read each week's portion together. If you would like to read ahead, you can find the Didache in English online. Pastor Trent recommends the Charles Hoole translation which can be found here. If you'd like a print copy, there many inexpensive versions available online to order, or let Pastor Trent know and he will have a few spare print copies available.

In our modern times when the future of the Christian Church seems uncertain and even our own path of discipleship seems unclear, the Didache invites us to return to the enduring basics of The Way (the original name Christians gave to our faith). The Didache continues to speak across centuries, calling us to walk The Way with clarity, courage, and community.
