As followers of Christ, we are called not only to love and care for those in our immediate circles but also to extend that care to our neighbors across the world. At Messiah, we take this call seriously, knowing that discipleship means working for justice, sharing resources, and supporting the flourishing of all God’s children—near and far.

That’s why we are honored to continue our partnership with St. Peter’s Lutheran School in Romanke, Sierra Leone. This year, through funds from our 2025 budget and additional dedicated gifts, we have sent a total of $3,500 to support the school’s ministry, ensuring that teachers are paid and that students have access to an affordable education close to home. And thanks to a generous donor who has committed to matching our gift and adding even more, our impact will be multiplied!

This connection is more than just an act of generosity—it is an example of what it means to be part of a worldwide communion of Lutherans. As members of the Lutheran World Federation, we are bound together with Lutherans across the globe in shared faith and mission. Closer to home, our Northern Texas-Northern Louisiana Synod has a deep and longstanding relationship with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sierra Leone. Through our support of St. Peter’s, we are living out our synod’s motto to be “Together in Mission”, standing in solidarity with our siblings in Christ.

For many years, Messiah has committed a portion of our budget to St. Peter’s as an expression of our faith in action. Continuing this partnership is an exciting way to be part of something bigger than ourselves—God’s ongoing work in the world. Thank you to all who have made this support possible through your gifts and prayers!
