At Messiah Lutheran Church, we believe faith is a lifelong journey best nurtured in community. Our youth faith formation programs are rooted in intergenerational fellowship, where people of all ages learn from one another and grow together in faith. We don’t just teach young people about Christian theology, scripture, prayer, and practice—we encourage them to ask big questions, think for themselves, and discover who God has created them to be.
We value young people as full and active members of our congregation, participating in worship, service, and ministry alongside people of all generations. Our goal is not only to teach faith but to create a space where children and teens can develop a relationship with Jesus that is truly their own.
Opportunities for Youth Faith Formation
Children’s Church (through 5th grade)
During the first part of our Sunday service, young children are invited to engage with the week’s scripture readings in a fun, multiage setting with trusted adult leaders. After the sermon, children return to the sanctuary to worship with the full congregation. Activity bags and children's worship bulletins are also available to help kids engage during the service.
Confirmation (typically 7th-9th grade)
Our Confirmation program is a deeper journey into Christian faith and the Lutheran tradition, led by the Pastor. Over one to two years, students explore scripture, theology, and spiritual practices while wrestling with their own questions of faith. Through the study of Martin Luther’s Small Catechism, they learn how Lutheran theology proclaims the gospel in ways that shape our lives. Ultimately, each student is encouraged to reflect on their faith journey and make a personal proclamation of faith during the rite of Affirmation of Baptism (Confirmation).
NT-NL Youth Events
Messiah youth are also invited to participate in regional gatherings and events hosted by our synod, the Northern Texas-Northern Louisiana Synod (NT-NL). These events connect young people with peers from other congregations for fellowship, learning, and faith-filled experiences. Learn more at ntnlyouth.org.
We are excited to walk alongside your family in this journey of faith! Come, grow, and discover with us.
