The Church is here for more than Sunday morning.
There are moments in life when we need more than an encouraging word or a Sunday sermon. We need someone to sit with us, listen, pray with us, help us discern what comes next, or simply mark a moment with the presence of God. Our pastor freely offers spiritual care and direction both to members of Messiah and to people in the wider community. You don't have to be a member of the congregation or have everything figured out before you reach out. Sometimes you simply need a quiet conversation with someone who will listen.
Spiritual Direction
Spiritual direction is a practice of prayerful conversation that helps us pay attention to God's presence in our lives. Together, you and the spiritual director can explore questions of faith, vocation, discernment, prayer, grief, change, doubt, or whatever else you are carrying. Sometimes spiritual direction is a single conversation; sometimes it becomes an ongoing practice.
Pastoral Care & Sacred Moments
Pastoral ministry also belongs in the ordinary and extraordinary moments of life. Our pastor is available for things such as:
- Private confession and prayer
- Anointing and prayers for healing
- Communion for those who are homebound
- Hospital, hospice, and end-of-life visits
- House blessings
- Pet blessings and prayers at the end of a beloved pet's life
- Memorials and other services of remembrance
- Blessings and prayers for significant life transitions
- Other moments when you would like the presence and prayer of the Church
