When the disciples ask Jesus how to pray, he doesn’t offer a method—he gives them a certain prayer. Sunday's sermon reflected on the pressures many people feel around prayer: to be eloquent, original, or spiritually tireless. But Jesus’ response is a simple, communal, and grace-filled liturgy. The Lord’s Prayer is not a performance, but a gift. The Lord's Prayer, like all liturgical prayer, is a gift God gives us, handed on to us through the Church. Liturgical prayer is a form of prayer that can holds us, forms us, and speaks for us when we have no words of our own.
