Planning Your First Visit? Here’s What to Expect.
We know visiting a new church can feel daunting. So, here’s everything you need to know to join us for Sunday worship and if you still have questions, contact us! We would love to answer any questions and help you find your place at Messiah.

What to Expect in Worship

A Warm Welcome:
Whether you’ve been part of a church for years or are exploring faith for the first time, you’ll find a friendly, inclusive community ready to greet you.

Liturgical Worship:
The Divine Service follows the rhythms of ancient Christian worship, bringing together Scripture, prayer, song, silence, and the sacraments. You’ll have a printed Order of Service that guides you through the entire service, including prayers and responses that we say together. You’ll be invited to sit or stand as you are able, sing hymns, listen to Scripture and preaching, and share in Holy Communion. You’ll also encounter candles, vestments, and other simple signs that help us see, hear, and participate in the story we are worshiping. Throughout the year, the shape of worship changes with the seasons of the Church. On special occasions, we may renew our baptismal promises, use incense, offer special blessings or anointing, or incorporate other ancient rituals into our worship. Some moments are intentionally quiet; others are joyful and full of song. You don’t need to know what to do ahead of time—the Order of Service will guide you, and you are always welcome to participate as much or as little as you are comfortable.

Come as You Are:
There’s no dress code. Whether you feel most comfortable in jeans or your Sunday best, you’re welcome just as you are.

For Families

We love having children in worship! Activity bags are available to keep little ones engaged, and we believe in making space for the joyful sounds of all ages during the service. Families with young children are encouraged to sit toward the front of the sanctuary so children can easily see all that goes on in the worship service. During the school year, children PreK through 5th grade are invited to a Children's Chapel during the readings and sermon for their own time of learning and hearing the Word. 

Accessibility

Most of our building is fully wheelchair accessible, and we are happy to accommodate any special needs—just let us know how we can help! There is also a wheelchair accessible pew in the middle of our sacntuary seating. We also have gender-neautral restrooms and large-print orders of service available.
